Donald R. Hemmer

Donald R. Hemmer, 73, of Waterloo, died Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Ravenwood Specialty Care.  He was born November 24, 1943 in Waterloo, the son of Peter and Geraldine (Johnston) Hemmer.  Donald married Terry Warren on October 27, 1962 in Waterloo, and they later divorced. Donald worked at John Deere in Waterloo for over 30 years, from 1972 until his retirement in 2003.

He is survived by his daughter, Lacey (Wayne) Satterlee, of Dunkerton, Iowa and his son, Dean Hemmer, of Waterloo; three grandchildren, James Hemmer, Nicole (Andrew) Harnois and Ashley Satterlee, and two great granddaughters.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ted Hemmer, and three sisters, Barb Cooper, Betty Engel and Joyce Schmitt.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo at a later date.  Visitation will be one hour before service.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
