DONALD EUGENE
FARRELL, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, October 13, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. He was born September 12, 1923 in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Charles Edward and Lena Lenora (Black) Farrell. Don married Carol Elizabeth Howell on December 15, 1950 at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls. He was a graduate of Blairsburg High School and played semi-professional baseball there, where he was known as "Lefty" Farrell. Don worked 43 years for the Illinois Central Railroad, retiring in May of 1983 as the Regional Rate Manager.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, of Cedar Falls; four daughters, Rebecca (Michael) Burns of Cedar Falls, Laura (Micheal) Walton of Joice, Iowa, Elizabeth (Steven) Baumeister of Waukee, Iowa and Barbara (Duayne) Shepard of Waterloo, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren and two step grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Farrell, a sister, Julia Klaver, and a step grandson, Brent Walton.
Funeral services were 10:30 am Monday, October 17, at First United Methodist Church, with interment at Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. A memorial fund will be established.
