Donald Walter Decker

Donald Walter Decker, 83, of Waterloo, died Friday, September 28, 2012, at Friendship Village Pavillion in Waterloo. He was born November 18, 1928 in Waterloo, the son of Guy and Gertrude (Olson) Decker. Don married Lenora DeNeui on March 15, 1947 in Cedar Falls. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Don worked at Viking Pump Company for seventeen years, and worked at John Deere Engine Works for twenty-three years, retiring in 1985. Survivors include his wife, Lenora Decker, of Waterloo; two sons, Steven (Becky) Decker of New Hartford, Iowa and Jeffrey Decker of Monroe, Louisiana; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Darrell Decker; a daughter, Suzanne (Rick) Harned, and two brothers, Robert and James Decker. Services will be 10:30 am Monday, October 1, 2012, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 3- 6:00 pm Sunday, and one hour before service, at the funeral home.
