Delores May Folkers

Delores May Folkers, 88, Cedar Falls, died Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Bickford Senior Living, Cedar Falls.

Delores was born December 30, 1936 at Sartori Hospital to the late Delbert and Letha (Thompson) Gerholdt.  She graduated from Finchford Consolidated High School where she played basketball and met her future husband, Richard G. Folkers.  The couple was wed on March 20, 1955 in Finchford.  Delores worked as an office manager for Cenex and M. D. Meyer Seed for many years retiring in 1998.  Delores and Richard celebrated 60 devoted years together prior to his death on March 14, 2016, just days away from their 61st anniversary.

Delores is survived by her loving children, Cindy (Bob) Gabriel of Des Moines, Connie Joy of Waterloo, Doug (Kathy) Folkers of Cedar Falls and David (Leann) Folkers of Des Moines; grandchildren, Travis (Sasha) Anderson, Marissa Gabriel, Jason (Dorothy) Bergmeier, Jennifer (Scott Mulder) Bergmeier, Brenna (Richard) Wilson, Gina (Kevin) Hernandez, Andrew (Megan) Folkers, Daniel Folkers, Elizabeth Folkers, Candy Strauser, John Strauser and Sandra (James) Robbins; 24 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Dale (Linda) Gerholdt of Cedar Falls; brother-in-law, Ron Degener of Cedar Falls; and extended family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her great-grandson, Brody Sanders; sister, Kay Degener and son-in-law, Keith Joy.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Finchford Community Bible Church.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, December 26, 2025 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home; resuming at 9:30 AM on Saturday at the church until the time of service.  Committal will be at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.
