Delah Friedel

Delah E. Friedel, 74, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, May 9, 2014 at her home, following a long battle with cancer. Delah was born June 11, 1939 in Wellsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Ibeling & Evelyn (Riekena) Harms. She married Andrew William "Bill" Friedel September 10, 1961, in Wellsburg. He preceded her in death June 27, 1984. Delah graduated from Allen College of Nursing in Waterloo and was employed as a Registered Nurse at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, retiring in 2004. Survivors include her daughter, Tami (Jan) Pulkrabek, of Overland Park, Kansas; her son, Mike (Ellen) Friedel, of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Andrew and Katie Friedel; three sisters, Eileen (Larry) Smith of Morrison, Iowa, Edna Williams, of Waterloo and Barb Harms, of Grundy Center; four brothers, Clifford (Pam) Harms, and Gary (Meg) Harms, both of Wellsburg, Daryl (Charlotte) Harms, of Cedar Falls and Darwin (Kathy) Harms, of Reinbeck, Iowa; one aunt, Mary Stahl, of Grundy Center and 13 nieces and nephews. Delah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one brother, James Harms and one niece, Sarah Harms. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with burial at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Wellsburg. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, and one hour prior to service Tuesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
