Dean Spencer Snodgrass

Dean Spencer Snodgrass, 90, Cedar Falls, died Saturday, July 27, 2024 at his home.

Dean was born July 31, 1933 near Shell Rock to the late Theodore Spencer and Hattie (Byl) Snodgrass.  He graduated from Janesville High School in 1951.  Following high school he enlisted in the US Army and honorably served in from 1953-55 earning the rank of sergeant.  Dean married the love of his life, Sandra Sheerer, on May 4, 1957 at First Baptist Church in Cedar Falls.  The couple was blessed with 3 sons, James, Jeffrey and Joel.  Dean worked in construction first for Black Hawk Construction and later Cardinal Construction for 36 years retiring in 1997 as a construction supervisor.  Even following retirement, he stayed close friends with those he had worked with.  After 63 loving years together, Dean sadly said goodbye to Sandra on February 28, 2021.

Dean is survived by his sons, James (Connie), Jeffrey and Joel all of Cedar Falls; grandchildren, Erin (Jon) Dabney, Elli (Taylor) Godwin, Emily (Josh) Danker and Spencer Snodgrass; great-grandchildren, Macy, Owen and Jaxon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Nancy Sheerer; and extended family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Snodgrass; parents, Theodore Spencer and Hattie Snodgrass; sister, Maxine Snodgrass; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert C. and Dorothy M. Sheerer.

The visitation for Dean will be 4:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls.  There will be a private family committal at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens at a later date.  Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is assisting the family.
