Dawn L Powell

Dawn Lee Powell, 75, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.  She was born April 13, 1936 in New Hartford, Iowa, the daughter of Lee Edward and Violet Elizabeth (Good) Dix.  Dawn married Lester Powell on September 4, 1954 in New Hartford.  He preceded her in death on March 27, 1998.  Dawn was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and was the registrar for over twenty-five years at the Winnebago Council Boy Scouts of America in Waterloo, retiring in 1998.

Survivors include four daughters,  Becky (Mike) Zuck of Bondurant, Iowa, Kathy (Gary) Freiberg of Champlin, Minnesota,  Cheryl (Paul) Humeston of Hanska, Minnesota and Teri (Tim) Vorland of West Des Moines, Iowa; two sons, Doug (Dee) Powell of Janesville, Iowa and David (Dawn) Powell of Humboldt, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Dawn was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services will be 10:30 am Monday, October 10, 2011, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.  Visitation will be 5—8:00 pm Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before the service at the church.  A memorial fund will be established.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
