DAVID E. ROGERS, 56, of Waverly and formerly of Cedar Falls, died of cancer on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. He was born April 29, 1948 in Cedar Falls, the son of Lawrence E. and Jeanette (Baker) Rogers. David married Marla Nicol on May 1, 1969 in Galena, Illinois. He was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and served with the US Navy, aboard the USS Chandler, during the Vietnam War. David worked for several years at Wayne Dennis Supply Company in Waterloo and worked in the Heating & Air Conditioning industry for many years in the metropolitan area. Until his illness, he had worked for four years at the Waterloo Post Office. Survivors include his wife, Marla, of Waverly and his mother, Jeanette, of Cedar Falls; three sons, Todd D. Rogers and Chad L. Rogers, both of Cedar Falls, and Ryan L. (Jessica L.) Rogers of Waverly; his daughter, Michelle (David) Visokey of Ft. Dodge; six grandchildren; two brothers, Duane (Anna) Rogers of Summerville, South Carolina and Larry (Anne) Rogers of Olympia, Washington; two sisters, Darlene (Ivan) McKee and Nancy (George) Dunkelberg, all of Cedar Falls; and his cousin and best friend, Ross (Linda) Chapin of Cedar Falls. David was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with interment at Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls.  Military honors will be conducted by Waterloo VFW Post 1623 and Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138.  Visitation will be 4 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to service on Wednesday.  Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
