David Carlson

David Leroy Carlson, 64, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. He was born February 20, 1950 in Cedar Falls, the son of Ruby and Jean (Miller) Carlson. David was a 1969 graduate of Cedar Falls High School. He was a custodian at the high school and later trained in restaurant/motel management. David was a chef at Holiday Inn in Cedar Rapids and at the Cedar Falls Happy Chef Restaurant. He owned and operated "Sweethearts Corner" in Shell Rock for several years and retired from John Deere custodial services. Survivors include his two brothers, Alan (Shiela) Carlson of Waterloo and Shawn Carlson of Cedar Falls, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law, Emily Carlson, and a niece, Analeigh Carlson. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Washington Chapel United Methodist Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in rural Cedar Falls. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
