DARRYL N. "WAG" WAGONER , 88, of New Hartford, Iowa, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Windsor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Falls.  Wag was born February 8, 1916 in Gilman City, Missouri, the son of Roy and Rosa (Lierly) Wagoner. He married Maurine Lepley on October 21, 1939 in Maloy, Iowa. Wag was a graduate of Southwest Missouri State Univerity and received his Vocational Agricultural degree from Iowa State University. He was a teacher for ten years in Adel, Waukee and Atlantic, Iowa. Wag owned and operated the grain elevators in both New Hartford and Parkersburg, Iowa for forty-seven years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over fifty years and a charter member of the New Hartford Lions Club. Wag was a longtime member of New Hartford United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Maurine, of New Hartford; a son, Wayne (Georgine) Wagoner of Parkersburg; two daughters, Lynette (Morrie) Adams of Iowa City, Iowa and Vickye (Stan) Thompson of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren, Rick (Marilyn) Adams of Nelson, British Columbia, Canada, Angela (Steve) Lockwood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Wade Wagoner of Kearney, Missouri, Bret (Jenny) Wagoner of Bondurant, Iowa, Jed (Kristi) Thompson of Durant, Iowa, Tessa Thompson of San Diego, California and Luke and Taryn Thompson, both of Parkersburg; five great-grandchildren, Zohara Adams, Connor, Patrick and Maurine Lockwood, and Brady Wagoner; a sister, Violet Toomay of Santa Maria, California and a sister-in-law, Boneta Wagoner of Gilman City, Missouri. Wag was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Deward Wagoner and two sisters, Blondell Dowell and Pauline Moulin.

Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2004, at New Hartford United Methodist Church.  Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
