Darrell Guthrie

Darrell Arthur Guthrie, 103, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, March 21, 2014 at NewAldaya Lifescapes. He was born January 17, 1911 in Halbrite, Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Floyd C. and Letha (Walters) Guthrie. Darrell married Adah Miller February 25, 1937 in Waterloo. She preceded him in death June 19, 1989. He farmed in the Fredsville area, retiring in 1977. Darrell is survived by three sons, Larry (Jeanne) Guthrie, of Cedar Rapids, Jerry (Amy) Guthrie, of Milford, New Hampshire, and Marc (Martie) Guthrie, of Seward, Nebraska; two daughters, Carol Guthrie, of Denver, Colorado, and Doris (Lynn) Lovell, of Cedar Falls; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son Robert Guthrie, two brothers, Dale and Eldon Guthrie; and three sisters, Alice Hay, Nadine Perry, and Irene Hill. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Fredsville Lutheran Church, with burial in Fredsville Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 5: 00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
