Darlene E Pearce

Darlene Emma Pearce, 81, of Waterloo, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.  She was born September 24, 1929 in Hudson, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Melinda (Degener) Abben.  Darlene married Donald Pearce on September 28, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson.  She worked for fifteen years in the Food Service Dept. at Cedar Falls High School, retiring in 1989.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Pearce, of Waterloo; two sons, Dan (Peggy) Pearce of Waterloo and Duane (Tamara) Pearce of Cedar Falls; four daughters, Linda (Gordy) Ceaglske of Tamarack, Minnesota, Sharon (Wayne) Vickery of Waterloo, Connie (Pete) Kemp of Amboy, Illinois and Diana (Jim) Myers of Waterloo; twenty-three grandchildren, forty-seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Fern) Abben of Waterloo, and two sisters, Karen (Gary) Fleming of Waterloo and Shirley (Clifford) Schilling of Ionia, Iowa.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, a son, David Dean Pearce, and two brothers, Lavern and Cecil Abben.

Services will be 1:30 pm Thursday, December 9, 2010, at Washington Chapel United Methodist Church, rural Cedar Falls, with private inurnment at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hudson, at a later date.  Visitation will be 4—7:00 pm Wednesday, December 8, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
