Curtis H. Haurum

Curtis H. Haurum, 80, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. He was born June 4, 1932 in Cedar Falls, the son of Harvey and Ethel (North) Haurum. Curtis married Beverly Benham on April 23, 1959 in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on December 23, 1991. Curtis graduated from Cedar Falls High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked in maintenance for General Electric for many years, retiring in 1992. Survivors include three sons, Rick Haurum of Waterloo, Randy (Thelda) Haurum of Marion, Iowa and Larry (Susan) Haurum of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Becky (Jerry) Junge, of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Haurum, of Waterloo; thirteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and a sister, Lois Chase, of Cedar Falls. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Vernon L. Haurum and a brother, Vernon J. Haurum. Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 48:00 pm Friday, and one hour before service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
