Craig D. Meyerhoff, 63, of Washburn, Iowa, died at home on Saturday, May 17, 2014. He was born July 25, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Harold and Virginia (Wolfgram) Meyerhoff. Craig married Thelma Whitesell on July 29, 1972 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Craig worked for John Deere & Company for thirty-six years, retiring in 2007. "This is the day that the Lord has made. Sleep well Craig M. Father, soldier, brother, son, husband, comrade, always quiet, always leading, always there." Survivors include his wife, Thelma Meyerhoff, of Washburn; a son, Chad (Brenda) Meyerhoff, of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Kimberly Sparks of Washburn, Melissa (Matthew) Petersen of Fertile, Iowa and Lacey (Rich) Budde of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren; his father, Harold (Edith) Meyerhoff, of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Dennis (John Kraker) Meyerhoff of Davenport, Iowa and Steve (Dena) Meyerhoff of High Springs, Florida, and two sisters, Sandra (Don) Frickson of Cedar Falls and Julie (Craig) Yocom of La Porte City, Iowa. Craig was preceded in death by his mother, a sister-in-law, Gail Whitesell, and his father and mother-in-law, Donald and Marilyn Whitesell. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church in Waterloo, under the auspices of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in Cedar Falls, with military honors conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 47:00 p.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.
