Claude Ernest Miller, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls. He was born January 27, 1922 in Trenton, Missouri, the son of Claude E. and Eula Pearl (Stinson) Miller. Claude married Betty Davis on June 4, 1943 at First Baptist Church in Trenton, Missouri. He served as an electrician on the USS Yorktown with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WW II. Claude was an electrical contractor for over thirty years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #288. Claude's greatest joy was spending time with his family and he was known to others for his never-ending positive attitude.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Miller, of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Judith "Judy" (Franklin "Woody") Sanderson of Elk Run Heights, Iowa, Janelle Anne (Jerry) Madison of Estherville, Iowa, and Nancy Carol (Michael) Hards of Brisbane, Australia; three grandchildren, Christopher James (Sue) Hyde, Gregory Allen Cooper, and Michelle Ann (Jeff) Lane; five great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Alex Hyde, Emily and Katelyn Lane, and Jamie Cooper, and a great-great-grandchild, Amrie Curry.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Miller, and a sister, Anna Mae Whitfield.
Funeral services were Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City. Military honors were conducted by Mason City VFW Post 733. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
