Claude E. Brown, 92, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, April 16, 2010, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. He was born August 26, 1917 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Ethel (Herman) Brown. Claude married Mae Miriam Hanson on December 10, 1949 at Walnut St. Baptist Church in Waterloo. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2008. Claude served in the U.S. Army during WW II, in both North Africa and the European Theatre of Operations. He worked at Rath Packing Company, the Illinois Central Railroad, and retired in 1980 from John Deere & Company, after many years of service.  Claude was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include five daughters, Georgia (Mike) Sullivan of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Claudia (David) Unger of Cedar Falls, Carolyn (Dale) Evans of Cedar Rapids, Phyllis (Kent) Irwin of Cedar Falls, and Marilee (Kerry) Thomas of Kingsley; a son, Darrell Brown, of Waterloo; eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a sister, Ina Haven, of Grand Marais, Minnesota.

Claude was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two brothers, Ralph and LaVerne Brown.

Services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Cedar Heights Baptist Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 2—6:00 pm Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.
