Chris Young

Christopher "Chris" Young, 48, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein, Iowa. He was born February 28, 1966 In Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Robert B. & Rita A. (Corring) Young. Chris graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1984, received an Associates Degree from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo, attended the University of Nebraska-Omaha and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. He was a Mechanical Technician with Anacomp in Omaha, Nebraska at the time of his accident. Chris began his second life on July 28, 1989, which led to his second career empowering others who face adversity. Survivors include his mother, Rita (Clyde Franklin) Young, of Waterloo; his father, Bob (Brenda) Young, of Cedar Falls; his brother, Bryan (Amy Primus) Young, of San Mateo, California, and his sister, Jennifer Young, of Waterloo. Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Herman and Mary Corring and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Bess Young. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hartman Reserve in Cedar Falls.
