Charles W. Whitney, 79, of Cedar Falls died Friday, December 1, 2006 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. He was born October 8, 1927 in Council Bluff, Iowa the son of Walter C. and Aurelia (Dixon) Whitney. Charles graduated from East High School in Waterloo. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy. Charles married Patricia Ann Chambers in March of 1950 at Waterloo, Iowa. She preceded him in death on March 7, 2000. He was an electrician and worked for IPS in Waterloo, retiring in 1977. Charles then went to work for the Department of Energy at the Boulder City Dam in Boulder City, Nevada.

He is survived by one son, James (Karla) Whitney of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Janet (Randy) Green of Waterloo and Ann (Dan) Shaner of Cedar Falls; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one brother Richard Yanda.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, visitation being one hour before services. Burial will be in Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the Cancer Treatment Center on Ridgeway Ave. in Waterloo
