CHARLES WHEELER was born February 7, 1924 in Pittsburg, Kansas the son of Charles & Dolly (Rupe) Wheeler.  He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII.  Charles was a Professor in the English Department at the University of Northern Iowa retiring in 1978 and was also an author.  He died Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home at the age of 78 years. Survivors include his son, Ben Wheeler of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five daughters, Lisa, Lorna, and Amy, all of Denver, Colorado, Emily of Independence, Iowa and Katy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and five grandchildren, Hannah, Lindsey, Tori, Dakota, and Jordy.

Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2003 at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel with burial in the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa.  Memorials may be given for Alzheimer's Research.
