Charles W Schuster

Charles W. Schuster, 65, of Waterloo, died Sunday, August 14, 2011, at NewAldaya Lifescapes, formerly the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, after a brief illness.  Charles was born October 31, 1945 in Cherry Point, North Carolina, the son of Carl & Helen (Cornell) Schuster.  He married Cathy Keiderling July 7, 1967 in Waterloo.  They divorced after 14 years of marriage.  Charles was a graduate of Columbus High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He was employed with American Family Insurance for many years and also with the Logan Ave. Hy-Vee in Waterloo.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn (Jeff) Lindquist, of Des Moines and Julie (Joel) Pietig, of Parkersburg; five grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Jean) Schuster, of Des Moines; and one sister, Mary (Joe) Reuter, of Ocala, Florida.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford.  A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 18, in the Main Street at NewAldaya Lifescapes.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
