CHARLES M.
LUSTHOFF
was born September 30, 1923 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Charles F. and Viola (Smith) Lusthoff. He married Loma Y. Holmes on October 25, 1945 in Waterloo. Charles served with the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division in the European Theatre during W.W. II. He was a machinist at John Deere & Company in Waterloo for thirty years, retiring in Department 27 in 1976. Charles was a volunteer with the Community Meals Program and was a member of the Talon Chapter of the 101st Airborne Association and the U.A.W. Retirees, and was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Cedar Falls. He died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, at 76 years of age.
Charles is survived by his wife Loma, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; his son, Timothy C. Lusthoff and his wife Katherine of Cedar Falls; his daughter, Valerie Jessen and her husband Bob, of Austin, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Christopher and Jason Jessen, and Ajay, Indira, Sasha, Ian and Petronella Lusthoff, and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Tran and Angela Oberle.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at the United Church of Christ, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials may be directed to the church.
