CHARLES E. FRANCISCO was born October 6, 1928 in Pattonsburg, Missouri, the son of Orville and Boline (Ellis) Francisco. He married Felicia Blasi on December 16, 1951 in Newark, New Jersey. Charles was a 24 year veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was a weather forecaster for over 50 years with the U.S. Navy, the National Weather Service and locally with KWLO Radio. Charles died Saturday, March 9, 2002 at his home in Cedar Falls, Iowa, at 73 years of age.
He is survived by his wife, Felicia of Cedar Falls; two sons, Leo Francisco (Dawn) of La Porte City, Iowa and Bill Francisco of Iowa City, Iowa; a daughter, Amelia Rider (John) of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Michael, Marc, Felicia and Sean, and a sister, Helen Woodward of Cameron, Missouri.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Stephen Rider and a brother, Raymond Francisco.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa, where military committal rites will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Hospital.
