Chad Robert Knipp, 46, of Cedar Falls, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. He was born November 19, 1974, in Waterloo, son of Robert and Kathryn (Burger) Knipp. Chad attended Don Bosco and West High Schools. He studied automotive repair and worked a variety of jobs including carpentry and bartending, but the single most important and his favorite was being a stay-at-home dad. On October 21, 2006, Chad married Melissa Shepard in Cedar Falls with the wholehearted blessing of their first two children and their family was eventually rounded out with the arrival of another child. Chad loved being a father and had special nicknames for each of their children: Jasmine (My Number One), Chance (Junior) and Alexandria (Sweetpea). Though his heart was full of love for his family, he still had room in it for all his friends, Harley Davidson, Green Bay Packers, Cubs and the Iowa Hawkeyes!
Chad was preceded in death by his parents; nephews, Nick and James Junk; and best friend, Bobby Nicks. Also there to greet him at the pearly gates was a son, Ricki, that he and Melissa lost during pregnancy. Chad is survived by his beloved Melissa, Jasmine, Chance and Alex of Cedar Falls; 4 brothers: Dan Knipp of Raymond, Tom Knipp of Salem, MA, Mike (Margie) Knipp of Jesup and Steve (Lisa) Knipp of Elk Run Heights; 3 sisters: Debbie (Jim) Thome of Raymond, Patti (Neil) Schmit of Jesup, and Angie (Jim) Junk of Waverly; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Chad had expressed to Melissa his wish to be cremated with a memorial service to be held at Prairie Lakes Church of Cedar Falls. Please join his family on Monday, August 30, 2021, from 3-4:00 pm for an informal time of visitation immediately followed by a memorial service. You can best honor Chad's memory by dressing comfortably (wear your Packers, Cubs, Hawkeyes or Harley clothing) and being at the service to surround his family with love. Memorials may be directed to his family.
