CARYL N. JEANES was born April 13, 1920 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa, the daughter of Earl Guy and Hazel Loretta (Straight) Saltzman. She married Donald Jeanes on December 7, 1938 at Mt. Ayr. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1977. Caryl was a nutritionist for many years at Harmony House Health Care Center in Waterloo, Iowa, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly, Iowa, United Methodist Women and was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Caryl died Monday, October 13, 2003, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, at 83 years of age.
She is survived by her three sons, Larry E. (Teresa) Jeanes of Plainfield, Iowa, and Roger L. (Bev) and W. Alan (Sandra) Jeanes, both of Westgate, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Laurie Jeanes, Eric Jeanes, Heather Holmes, Jodi Riverso, Cary, Neil and Lonny Jeanes, and Keith, Chris and Corey Jeanes; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Les (Ruth) Saltzman of Denver, Iowa and four sisters, Emma Morgensen of Cedar Falls, Lois (LeRoy) Litchfield of Yuma, Arizona, Rella Southard of Cedar Falls and June (Frank)Neighbors of Mason City, Iowa.
Caryl was preceded in death by her husband and parents; a brother, Evan Saltzmand and a sister, Wilma Loomis.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2003, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Dike, Iowa. A memorial fund will be established.
