Carolyn Louisa Stephens

Carolyn Louisa Stephens, 75, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, November 12, 2015, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. She was born December 5, 1939 in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Donald F. and Melissa E. (Modlin) Port. She married Gary K. Spier in 1958 and they were later divorced. She married Gary E. Stephens in 1970 and they were later divorced. Carolyn is survived by two sons; Kent (Tanya) Spier, of Cedar Falls, and Michael (Allyson) Spier, of Chandler, Arizona; four daughters, Kimberly (Jim) Girres, of Cedar Falls, Wendy (Rick) Mobley, of Cedar Falls, Stephanie Henze, of Waterloo, and Melissa Stephens, of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Jessie) Martinez M. D., Megan (Kyle) Blohm, Addison Girres, Justin Spier, Jena Spier, Makenze Mobley, Alivia Spier, Miranda Henze and Maresa Henze; three great grandchildren, Jada, Amya, and Claire Blohm; brother-in-law, Bill Miller, of Raleigh, North Carolina; aunt, Nancy McClain, of Waterloo, and a fifth daughter, Colleen Jessen, of Dunkerton. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marilyn Miller. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Orchard Hill Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 16, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the family.
