Carolyn Ruth Petersen Eaton, 90, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Monday, January 3, 2011, at Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center. She was born June 25, 1920 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of James O. and Murial (Bishop) Lowe. Carolyn graduated from West High School in Waterloo. She married Parker N. Petersen March 31,1940 in Waterloo and he preceded her in death September 30, 1995. She married James Eaton December 12, 1998 and he preceded her in death July 17, 2003.
In 1958, Carolyn and Parker opened and managed Carolyn's Fashion Fabrics in Cedar Falls and Waterloo. After a number of years they sold their business and purchased a farm where they lived until Parkers death. They enjoyed many years traveling and wintering in Arizona. Most recently, Carolyn lived in the Western Home Communities, where she enjoyed many friendships. She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue (Jerry) Welden, of Iowa Falls and Judy (George) Jorgensen, of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Mike (Kristin) Cranston of Eugene, Oregon, Jennifer (Mike) Hummel, of St. Paul, Minnesota, Beth (Jerry) Harris, of Cedar Falls, John (Gina) Jorgensen, of Cedar Falls, Carolyn (Manuel) Pinto, of Wayzata, Minnesota, and Jens (Jill) Jorgensen, of Edina, Minnesota; eleven great grandchildren, Jack, Sam, George, Samuel, Adam, Annebeth, Julie, Jens, Jack, Elizabeth, Jacob, and one sister, Virginia Buckingham, of New Braunfels, Texas.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and one granddaughter, Kathy Jo Cranston McFadden.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2011,at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5—7:00 pm Thursday, January 6, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church .
