Caroline Marie Eltjes, 86 of Cedar Falls, formerly of Kesley and Waverly died Monday, January 14, 2013 at Windhaven Assisted Living, Cedar Falls. She was born on November 30, 1926 in rural Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Anna Priepke Garbes. She married Walter (Bud) Eltjes on July 30, 1948 in Shell Rock, Iowa. He died March 26, 2001. Survived by: two daughters, Doriece (Randy) Stickfort of Cedar Falls and Darla (Dan) Erskine of Waverly; six grandchildren, Autumn (Todd) Penz, Faresse Erskine, Skyller Stickfort, Walker Erskine, Dakota Stickfort and Nate Stickfort; one great-grandson, Brecken Penz; two brothers, Raymond (Jeanette) Garbes of Nashua and Carl (Vera) Garbes of Clarksville; two sisters, Ruth (Don) Fenneman of Clarksville and Marlene (Bud) Mennenga of Clarksville, one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Garbes of Clarksville; many nieces and nephews, and honorary granddaughter, Erika Herington. Preceded in death by: infant twin granddaughters (Erskine), four sisters, Martha Wadey, Laura Franzen, Louise Grawe and Dorothy Kluiter; three brothers, Albert, Frederick and Harlan Garbes. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethany Bible Chapel, Cedar Falls, with burial at the Hitesville Cemetary, rural Aplington. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls and 1 hour before the services. She trusted Christ as her Savior on April 13, 1948 through Romans 5:6. Mrs. Eltjes was a wonderful homemaker, mother and grandma who loved spending time with her family. She blessed others with her hospitality, sewing, baking, gardening and music.
