Carol Van Der Meide

Carol Van Der Meide, 70, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, August 10, 2015, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. She was born December 28, 1944 in Orange City, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Alice (Doppenburg) Vander Zwaag. Carol married Ron Van Der Meide on June 6, 1967 in Orange City. She was a graduate of MOC High School in Orange City and earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from Northwestern College in Orange City. Carol was a preschool teacher for 33 years, first at home, then at Community United Childcare Center and later at Nazareth Lutheran Church Blessed Beginnings, both in Cedar Falls, retiring in 2010. She was an active member of Trinity Bible Church in Cedar Falls. Carol is survived by her husband, Ron Van Der Meide, of Cedar Falls; her son, Ryan (Shelley) Van Der Meide, of Chanhassen, Minnesota; her daughter, Kelly (Josh) Shull, of Adel, Iowa; four grandchildren, Hayden and Lila Van Der Meide, Hudson and Kimbal Shull; a sister, Anna Beth (Ethan) Vermeer, and a brother, Alan (Linda) Vander Zwaag, both of Orange City. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2015, at Trinity Bible Church in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 47:00 p.m. Thursday, August 13, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.
