Carol Lee Christensen

Carol Lee Christensen, 86, of Cedar Falls, passed away at Pinnacle Specialty Care on Friday, August 16, 2024. She was born June 5, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of Peter and Hazel (Augustine) Frank. Carol graduated from St. Mary's High School in Waterloo with the Class of 1956.  On September 1, 1956, she married Gene Redmon at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waterloo. They later divorced. Carol married Charles "Chappie" Christensen on September 7, 1963, in South Sioux City. She was a homemaker and became a nanny after her own children were grown.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 31 years, Chappie; a son, Bob; and sister, Sharon Nissen.  She is survived by her sons: Chuck (Janelle) Christensen of North Liberty, Steve Christensen of Cedar Falls, Jim (Yolanda) Christensen of Johnston; daughters: Mary Christensen of Franklin, Indiana, Teresa (Pete) Ramey of Cedar Falls and Veronica (Dale) Carroll of Waterloo; grandchildren: Crystal (Blake) Nielsen, Clay (Hope Spangenburg) Cornwell, Jessica (Matt) Smith, Emily (Sean) Anderson, Abigail (Dequandis Humphrey) White, Vanessa (Nathan) Price, Curtis (Alexi) Christensen, Kaelyn Christensen, Austyn Christensen, Blake (Paige Lyman) Christensen, Austin Schankleberg, Tyler Christensen, Haley Christensen and Karisa Christensen; 17 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; and a brother-in-law, Paul (Kathy) Christensen.

Carol's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 23, 2024, with Visitation from 4-6:00 the evening prior both at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery of Cedar Falls.  Memorials may be directed to her family c/o of the funeral home.

Carol was an avid gardener who loved all flowers but especially her roses.  She was an amazing cook – no small feat when preparing meals for such a large household.  Carol greatly enjoyed all children, but particularly cherished time with her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
