Carol L. Baker, 77, of Janesville, Iowa, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls. She was born January 3, 1934, at Lehigh, Iowa, the daughter of Lee & Marjorie (Rowley) Dutcher. Carol graduated from Lehigh High School and received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Northern Iowa. She married John R. Baker February 24, 1952, at Lehigh, Iowa. He preceded her in death November 16, 2009. Carol was a teacher at Miner Elementary School in Cedar Falls and was an Educational Strategist with Area 7.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Baker, of Des Moines and Jeff (Mickey) Baker, of Janesville; three daughters, Jody (Dave) Kuhl, of Denton, Texas, Jana Baker, of Nashville, Tennessee and Julie (Mike) Burger, of Mesa, Arizona; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother, Jerry Dutcher.
A Celebration of Life Reception will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Janesville United Methodist Church with inurnment at a later date in West Lawn Cemetery, Lehigh, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Falls Community Schools Foundation, John Baker Memorial Library. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
