CARL F. THIERMAN was born on February 29, 1904, in Black Hawk County the son of Robert F. and Sophie (Heide) Thierman. He married Doris H. Perin on August 11, 1939, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She preceded him in death on October 14, 1998. Carl died on Tuesday, May 11, 1999, at the Western Home Martin Center in Cedar Falls at 95 years of age.
He is survived by five sons, Charles of Des Moines, Iowa, James of Cedar Falls, John of Waterloo, Richard of Waverly and Tom of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Nanette Sash of Waterloo; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one sister, Violet Thompson of Blue Mound, Wisconsin. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Doris; one granddaughter, Lisa Thierman; one brother, William and two sisters, Irene Braun and Mildred Lukes.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 14, 1999 at the United Church of Christ, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Memorials to be directed to the family.
