Capt. Mark A Conway

Capt. Mark Andrew "Andy" Conway, 26, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, August 27, 2011, from a brain tumor.  He was born April 20, 1985, in Cedar Falls, son of Mark and Mary Conway. He married Micale R. Coon on May 17, 2008.  Capt. Conway graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in 2004, and from Iowa State University in 2008, with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of the ROTC Cyclone Battalion and was commissioned into the U.S. Army where he branched into aviation. He completed airborne training and was a helicopter pilot at his last active duty station in Fort Rucker, Ala.  Andy made us all very proud. He passed as he lived, with great courage, strength and no complaints.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Wylee Andrew of Spirit Lake; his parents of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Molly and Katie; a brother, Jack; his grandmother, Jane Even of Alton; and his grandparents, Dr. Francis and Mick Conway of Emmetsburg.

Preceded in death by: his grandfather, Michael H. Even.

Memorial service: 10 a.m. Friday at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 2805 Erie Ave., Spirit Lake, with full military rites; an additional memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Cedar Falls, with a time for sharing during and immediately following the service.  Memorials may be directed to the family in Cedar Falls for a memorial fund to be established, in lieu of flowers.  Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
