Calvin Lester Crail, 93, died Friday, April 30, 2020, at Harmony House Healthcare Center in Waterloo, Iowa. He was born October 10, 1926, the son of Oscar Jason Crail and Gertrude (Barnes) Crail of Albia, Iowa. Calvin married Gloria Darlene Cramer on February 28, 1948 and celebrated their 71 st anniversary last year. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2019. Calvin and Gloria lived in Fort Madison most of their married life and lived the last 12 year in Cedar Falls where they were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Calvin served in the US Marine Corps during WWII in China in the 6 th Marine Division Intelligence Section. He later graduated from Tri-State College in Indiana and received his License as a Professional Engineer in Iowa. Calvin was an engineer for many years, working for several firms including the Iowa Ordinance Plant and retiring in 1987.
Calvin is survived by his six daughters, Roxanna Crail of Keokuk, Dorinda (Tom) Pounds of Cedar Falls, Arlanda (Greg Silvey) Crail of Olympia, Washington, Kimbra Wilson of Fort Madison, Jolene (Don) Westland of Ketchikan, Alaska, and Letitia (Dan Poggenpohl) Williams of Robins, seven grandchildren, Carissa (Scott) Williamson, Jessica (Dereck) Jaggers, Colleen McClinton, Nathan (Tabetha) Wilson, Jason Crail, Robert (Amy) Williams, and Crailen Silvey and 9 great-grandchildren.
Private Graveside Services will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHomes.com
