Byron Ray Hall

Byron Ray Hall was born in Venus, Nebraska April 21, 1934 to Ernest and Mable (Doll) Hall. He had nine siblings, with Bonnie (Hall) Spica still living.

Byron married DeLila Mae Rindels May 16, 1953. Together they had Robert Ray (Tammy) Hall of Shell Rock, Iowa, Pamela Sue Brown of Des Moines, Iowa, Michael John (Mary) Hall of Allison, Iowa, Alena Marie (Gary) Smith of Shell Rock and Rev. Myron Ernest (Carmel) Hall of Morehead, Kentucky. DeLila Hall passed away June 24, 1999. Byron worked at Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, Iowa for over 30 years until its closing. He also owned Shell Rock Locker for several years.

Byron moved to Des Moines and married a life long friend, Mary Jean James, November 1, 2008. Mary Jean has seven living children, Jolene (Dean) Bosley of Grimes, Iowa, Jacki (Curt) Chittenden of Indianola, Iowa, Christine (Steve) Foreman of Des Moines, Donnie and Daniel James, both of Des Moines, Rev. Cindy (Kevin) Else of Indianola, and Sonya Oppman of Johnston, Iowa. Byron loved his children and his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, at the age of 81.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife; a grandson, Levi Hall; a step son, David James; three brothers and five sisters.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Living Water Church of the Nazarene, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5—7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
