Beverly M. Haugen

Beverly M. Haugen 96, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, November 19, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center, Waterloo.

She was born July 20, 1927, in Dennison, Minn., daughter of Ben and Mabel (Komprud) Hillestad.  She married Arland "Axe" Haugen on Aug. 21, 1948 in Dennison, Minn.

Bev graduated from Northfield High School and Minneapolis Business College.  She was a homemaker until her children graduated from high school.  Bev was an Avon representative for 25 years and also coordinated drivers for the Meals on Wheels program for 12 years.  She was a charter member and past president of the Sons of Norway Solglimt Lodge.  Bev and Axe joined Nazareth Lutheran Church in 1959 and were faithful and active members for 64 years.

Bev is survived by her daughters, Jane (Dick) Schaefer of Littleton, CO and Nancy Larson of Ames; son, David (Tori) of Macomb, IL; 6 grandchildren, Siri Schaefer, Jocelyn (Tim) Gilbert, Ben (Chelsa) Schaefer, Shaina (James) Rich, Nicole (Erik) Houston and Danny (Danielle) Schaefer; 14 great-grandchildren, Myles, Aubrey, Sydney, Raum, Brodie, Ryker, Charlotte, Jarius, Emma, Lydia, Sarah, Zachary, Ivy and Tessa; and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years; son-in-law, Clif Larson and infant great-grandson, Titus Daniel Schaefer.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, Nov. 25 at Nazareth Lutheran Church – Larson Chapel with the visitation from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church on Saturday.  Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.  Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to Nazareth Lutheran Church Mission Fund and the House of Hope, Waterloo.

Bev was a beloved wife, mother, grandma and friend.  She loved flowers, gardening, and her bridge clubs; and was known for making delicious pies and potato salad.  She will be missed by many.
