BETTY L.
TORNER, 77, of Cedar Falls died Monday, November 1, 2004 at her home of natural causes. She was born February 15, 1927 in Peterson, Iowa the daughter of Harold & Gladys (Fields) Tibbetts. She married Duane Torner December 1, 1946 in La Porte City. He preceded her in death January 26, 1993. Betty was a realtor for 20 years retiring in 1993 from Trapp Realtors. She was past Governor of the Women's Council of Realtors-Iowa Chapter and also Past National President of AMVETS Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, James (Robin) Torner of Iowa City, Burl (Carlye) Torner of Normal, Illinois, Jay (Rita) Torner of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; two daughters, Diane Milani of Cedar Falls, Lori (Corey) Clark of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Justin, Maryn, & Evan Torner, Jon & Cody Parker, and Raechel & Elsa Torner; one brother, Melvin (Nancy) Tibbetts of Cedar Falls; and four sisters, Bonnie Tibbetts of Waterloo, Virginia (Harold) Smith of Woodbridge, Virginia, Donna (Bill) Hurley of Evansdale and Beverly (George) Huntbach of Waterloo. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, Gary and an infant daughter, Georgia.
Graveside services were 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Bend Humane Society or the family.
