Bessie "Bess" L. Tapper

Bessie "Bess" L. Tapper, 84, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Anamosa, died Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Western Home Communities Nation Cottage in Cedar Falls. She was born December 1, 1932 in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Paul K. and Genevieve M. (Foell) Wolf. Bess married Alan Dwight Tapper on September 7, 1952 at the Church of Christ in Hampton. She was a 1950 graduate of Hampton High School and worked as an administrative secretary at Farmers Hybrids. Bess later worked for 16 years for the principal of Anamosa High School and then worked for 10 years for the Kirkwood Community College Educational Dept. at Anamosa State Penitentiary. She was a member of the Christian Church in Martelle, Iowa for many years and was a charter member of Grace Christian Fellowship in Fairview, Iowa.

Bess is survived by her husband, Alan Tapper, of Cedar Falls; her daughter, Paula Tapper (Greg) Nicoll, of Cedar Falls; her son, Dr. Ronald (Valli) Tapper, of Hollywood, Florida; five grandchildren, Jesse (Ali) Adams, Philip (Stephanie) Nicoll, Bethany Nicoll, Jenevieve Tapper and Jillian Tapper; two great grandsons, Skyler Nicoll and Strake Adams, and her step brother, Robert (Marcia) Koester, of Clear Lake, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step father, William Koester, and her brother and sister-in-law, Clinton and Doris Wolf.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Hampton Cemetery, Hampton, Iowa. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and one hour before service at the church.
