Bernice W. Retz

Bernice W. Retz, 89, of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 7, 2012, at ManorCare in Waterloo. She was born July 2, 1922, at Walnut, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Mary (Albertus) Klindt. Bernice married Max K. Retz June 22, 1946, at Arlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death May 16, 1986. She received her teaching certificate from Peru State Teachers College, Peru, Nebraska and taught school for some years in Adair and Arlington, Iowa. Bernice and her husband, Max, along with their son, Gary, moved from Arlington, Iowa to Waterloo in 1948. Bernice is survived by her son, Gary (Jacqueline) Retz, of Waterloo. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the funeral home and one hour before services on Wednesday. Burial will be in Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington, Iowa.
