Bernice Manross

Bernice May Howard Manross, 86, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at her home. She was born February 23, 1926 in Blue Earth, Minnesota, the daughter of Charles H. and Hazel L. (Wiley) Minnick. Bernice married George Schnock and they later divorced. She married Audrey Howard on May 3, 1957 in New Hampton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1979. On July 27, 1991, Bernice was united in marriage to Delbert Manross in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2004. Bernice was a graduate of Parkersburg High School. She was employed as a nurse-aide at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She later worked for the Western Home. Survivors include three sons, Larry (Sue) Schnock of Atlanta, Georgia, Tom Schnock and Jim (Donna) Howard, both of Macon, Georgia; two daughters, Janis (Jim) Stuber of Waterloo and Gail (Craig) Riesberg of Papillion, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, Chris, Jason, Andrew and Michael Schnock, Dan, Steve and Melissa Stuber, Dawn Overton and Clay Howard; ten great grandchildren, and a sister, Donna (Bob) Cronin, of Buffalo, New York. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, a brother, Leland Minnick, and a sister, Darlene Olsen. Services will be 10:30 am Saturday, September 8, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.
