Bernice Gibson

Bernice E. Gibson, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. Bernice was born November 7, 1923, in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Oliver & Clema (Hendersen) Weese. She married Donald R. Gibson December 26, 1948, in Akron. He preceded her in death February 8, 2014. Bernice received her B. A. from the University of Akron and was a member of PEO Chapter GQ. Survivors include her son, Donald R. "Buzz" (Cynthia) Gibson, Jr., of Evergreen, Colorado; two daughters, Kathryn S. (David Beaty) Duke of Cedar Falls and Margaret E. (Philip) Mann of Chesapeake, Virginia; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a brother, Walter Fair, and a sister, Evelyn Laub. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls with entombment at 3:00 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
