BERNARDINE ANN NIELSEN was born March 8, 1937, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Merle A. and Helene A. Neuhalfen. She married Donald L. Nielsen June 18, 1955 at Cedar Falls, Iowa. Bernie worked for Congdon Printing for many years and later for Woolverton Printing. She was well known for her great peanut brittle and for her beautiful craft work. Bernie died Saturday, August 24, 2002 at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, Iowa at the age of 65 years.
Bernie is survived by her husband, Don of Cedar Falls; four sons, Tim (Rochelle) of Janesville, Mike of Cedar Falls, Jeff (Julie) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Tony of Waterloo; one daughter, Christine (Steve) of Hudson; eight grandchildren, Madison, Nickolas, Shayla, Brittany, Sterling, Chandler, Shane and Mandy; four great grandchildren, Jackie, Billie, Tyler and Alyssa; five brothers, Donald (Jo Ann) Heath, Ida Grove, Iowa, Richard (Anna Mae) Heath, Joseph (Janice) Heath, Leo ( Sandy) and James (Teresa) Heath all of Cedar Falls; three sisters, Marlene (Jerry) Jeys of Waterloo, Connie (Jim) Taylor of Cedar Falls, and Phyllis (Quinton) Lane of Janesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Kenneth Heath.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2002, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. A memorial fund will be established.
