Bernard "Bernie" Arthur Manley

Bernard "Bernie" Arthur Manley, 85, Waterloo, died Thursday, November 9, 2023, at UnityPoint/Allen Hospital.  He was born January 11, 1938, in Waterloo to the late Calvin and Betty (Caley) Manley.  A fourth generation citizen of Cedar Falls, Bernie graduated from Cedar Falls High School with the Class of 1956 and entered the U.S. Air Force.  He was stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Central Illinois where he was an instructor in propulsion systems for Titan Missiles.  On February 23, 1963, Bernie married Judith Ann Burnison in Champaign, Illinois.  He worked as a General Supervisor in Maintenance for John Deere at the Tractor Assembly for 36-1/2 years before retiring in 1993.  In his free time, Bernie could be found outdoors where he particularly enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Bernie is survived by his children: Lynn Manley, Mike (Shari) Manley and Todd Manley; sister-in-law, Kathy Lamb Manley; and extended family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy; and siblings, Fred Manley and Mary Jane Manley.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, with Visitation an hour prior at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home of Cedar Falls.  Bernie and Judy will be laid to rest together at Greenwood Cemetery of Cedar Falls at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to his family.
