Beatrice Thompson Blackburn, 99, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, November 2, 2014, at the Western Home Communities Stanard Assisted Living Center. She was born March 15, 1915, in Cedar Falls, the daughter of Frank and Grace (Phelps) Thompson. Beatrice married Ross E. Blackburn in Cedar Falls. He preceded her in death in 1982. Beatrice was a graduate of Cedar Falls High School and owned and operated East 11th Street Grocery Store in Cedar Falls for 15 years. She later worked at Viking Pump Company in Cedar Falls for 10 years, retiring in 1972. Survivors include her two sons, Scott Blackburn of Cedar Falls and John (Carma) Blackburn of Fountain Hills, Arizona; eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers, Donald and Harold Thompson; a sister, Isabel Anderson; a grandson, Jeremy Richardson, and a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Blackburn. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, in Cedar Falls with burial in Washington Chapel Cemetery in Janesville. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and also one hour preceding services at the church. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
