BARTON H.
COBIE, 66, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Barton was born July 17, 1939 at Ackley, Iowa the son of Howard & Adeline (Burkle) Cobie. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. Barton married Anna Mary Vermace January 20, 1967 at Sumner, Iowa. He was employed at Viking Pump Company in Cedar Falls where he worked in the Alloys Foundry for 35 years, retiring April 5, 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Mary Cobie of Waterloo; his daughter, Tami (Fred) Vagts of Cannon Falls, Minnesota; his son, Steve Cobie of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Cobie and Casey Vagts; one brother, Bob (Nancy) Cobie of Dublin, Ohio; and two brother-in-laws, Karl (Ruth) Vermace of Corpus Christi, Texas and John (Patricia) Vermace of Indianola, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2005 at St. John Lutheran Church with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. A memorial fund will be established.
