Dr. Barbara Yager

Dr. Barbara Yager, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, following a long illness with cancer. She was born July 31, 1923 in Van Wert, Ohio. Barbara was a professor in the Women's Physical Education Dept. at UNI from 1949 until her retirement in 1985. Later, she taught Citizenship for ten years while living in Arizona. Barbara was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls for thirty years. Survivors include her niece, Sharon (Herbert) Hibshman, and their two children, of Myerstown, Pennsylvania, her sister-in-law, and her close friend, Barbara J. Darling, of Cedar Falls. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul Yager. Services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Dr. Barbara Yager Scholarship Fund at UNI, the Western Home Communities, or Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.
