Barbara Luhring, 66, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, October 28, 2007, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. She was born August 28, 1941 in Newton, Iowa, the daughter of Terry B. and Helga (Falkenberg) Olin. She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1959 and from Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) in 1964 . Barbara married Vernon R. Luhring on April 3, 1964 in Cedar Falls. She was an early childhood education development specialist and taught at Lab School in Cedar Falls and the Waterloo School system. Barbara retired in 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Jennifer (John) Jacobsen of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jayne (Aaron) Spear of Evergreen, Colorado; four grandchildren, Olivia and Noelle Jacobsen , and Zach and Tate Spear, her father, Terry Olin of Cedar Falls and one sister, Jan McMullen of Kansas City, Missouri .

Barbara was preceded in death by one son, Allan David Luhring, her mother, Helga Olin and one brother in law, Richard McMullen.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at Nazareth Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4:30 — 6:00 p.m. Tuesday October 29, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with personal sharing and memories from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice and Nazareth Lutheran Church.
