Barbara J Kane

Barbara Jean Kane, 89, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Ames, died Sunday, October 3, 2010, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.  She was born March 3, 1921 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Rueben Arthur and Majeska Faye (Kipp) Harrison.  Barbara married Wayne Thomas Kane on July 7, 1943 in Harris County, Texas.  They were later divorced.  Barbara graduated from Breckenridge High School, San Antonio, Texas, and later worked at the Iowa State University Press.  She loved her family and enjoyed dogs, especially beagles and basset hounds.

Survivors include four sons, Randy Kane of Williston, North Dakota, Tim (Carol) Kane of Washburn, Wisconsin, David (Nan) Kane of Waterloo, and Robert (Christine) Kane of Los Angeles, California; a daughter, Mary (Pete) Saichaie, of Ankeny, Iowa; four grandchildren, Dustin Kane, Lindsey (Jacob) Moore, Kem Saichaie, and Len Saichaie; two great grandchildren, Brandon Kane and Liam Moore, and a sister, Mary Jane Nicholson, of Brea, California.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Worth Harrison.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at Greenwood Cemetery in Cedar Falls.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials may be directed to the Iowa State University Veterinary College.  Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
