Augusta Stender

Augusta W. Stender, 98, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Saturday, December 15, 2012, at the NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. She was born March 17, 1914 near Cedar Falls, the daughter of August F. and Rebecca (Andorf) Engel. Augusta married Max C. Stender February 3, 1932 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson. He preceded her in death December 6, 1988. She and Max moved from their farm in rural Dunkerton to Cedar Falls in 1969. Augusta was a professional seamstress for many years. Augusta is survived by four grandchildren, Michael (Sherry) Magee, of Leawood, Kansas, Dennis (Julie) Magee, of Dunkerton, Julie (Rob) Heiple, of Dunkerton, and Rebecca (Robert) Mahoney, of Harlan, Iowa; two step granddaughters, Gretchen (Joseph) Paricka, of Cedar Rapids, and Ingrid (Andrew) Giere, of Bettendorf, Iowa; sixteen great grandchildren, Christopher, Cory, and Cole Heiple; Maxwell, Benjamin, and Gavin Magee; August, Charlie, and Eleanor Magee; Devin, Niall, and Quinn Mahoney; Hayden and Elsie Paricka; Rorek and Boden Giere; one son-in-law, Raleigh (Greta) Magee, of Cedar Falls, and one sister Laura Siemens, of Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one daughter Eleanor Magee. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Nazareth Lutheran Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
