AUGUST "ED" MILLER was born August 2, 1907 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of August P. and Anna Marie (Jensen) Miller. He married Catherine J. "Jo" Kroll on May 25, 1945, in Brownwood, Texas. Ed served with the U. S. Army during WW II and was a shipping clerk for many years with Universal Industry in Cedar Falls, retiring in 1969. Ed died Sunday, January 7, 2001, at Grandview Care Center in Oelwein, Iowa, at 93 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Jo, of Oelwein; a son, Tom A. Miller and his wife Marge of Hazelton, Iowa; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Clara Schwantes of Waterloo, Iowa.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Nancy Miller; six brothers, Bill, Lee, Charles, Erick, Howard and Henry Miller, and four sisters, Minnie, Evelyn, Anna Marie and Adah.
Funeral services were Wednesday, January 10, 2001, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford, Iowa. A memorial fund will be established at a later date.
