AUGUST O. KLEMP,
83, died Monday, March 27, 2006, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home. He was born October 1, 1922 in Readlyn, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Elsie (Sell) Klemp. August married Ruth Carol Roberts on June 7, 1947 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre of Operations during WW II, and was a building contractor in the metropolitan area for 30 years, retiring in 1978.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Marcellis (Phil) Albertson of Yucaipa, California and Helen Pavelka of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother, Robert (Mary) Klemp, of Fredericksburg, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Voral Roberts, of Cedar Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews.
August was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law, Beverly Klemp, and three brothers-in-law, John and Bill Roberts, and Cletus Pavelka.
Memorial services were Friday, March 31, 2006, at the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel. Private committal services will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.
